The Music Ministry of St. Timothy on the Northshore United Methodist Church has a place of joyful service for every member of your family. We hope you will join us!
The St. Timothy Choir
The largest ensemble at St. Timothy, the choir provides special music and leadership of congregational singing at the 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship services. The choir also presents performances of major choral/orchestral masterpieces for the community at large. The annual “Christmas on the Northshore” concert was voted as 2004 Best Choral Arts Performance in the New Orleans Arts Awards. Its successful reception led to an annual Gospel concert that is performed on Palm Sunday.
The choir has traveled to New York to perform in Carnegie Hall. In 2007, the choir visited the Holy Land in the “Prepare the Way” tour where members of the group participated in several concerts in Jordan and Israel; the tour culminated with a performance in Manger Square, Bethlehem, on Christmas Eve. In the Spring 2009 “Prepare the Way Goodwill Tour,” the choir traveled to Greece to perform the oratorio “Elijah.”
Participating in the St. Timothy choir is fun and offers many opportunities for developing relationships and for fellowship. There is always a fresh pot of coffee in the choir room. Every rehearsal includes laughter as well as time for sharing concerns and prayer.
The St. Timothy Chorale
This auditioned adult ensemble sings once a month for the 11:00 Worship Service.
The youth choir/chorale is a group of 7th-12th grade students who enjoy music and want to grow in a deeper understanding of musical skills and their use in the church setting. These young people learn traditional and contemporary sacred music for presentation in different worship services of the church. Instrumentalists are also used on a regular basis to accompany the choir/chorale in worship services as well as on the annual summer choir tour.

The Children’s Music Ministry of St. Timothy on the Northshore United Methodist Church is an expression of our love for all of God’s children and our desire that each be nurtured in the Christian faith. Participation in children’s choir teaches skills of worship participation and leadership while providing a strong support of each child’s growth as a young Christian. Activities include singing, games, stories and other fun activities.
For more information, contact the Children’s Music Supervisor: Kenya Lawrence Jackson, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Praise Band provides leadership of the music at our Saturday night and Sunday morning contemporary services. Participation is by audition and requires a great commitment to the music ministry at St. Timothy. Other bands are being developed for needs throughout the life of the church. If you play an instrument or are an accomplished singer, St. Timothy has a place for you. Contact Chad Haddad for more information.
