Just A Little Knitty for Jesus

Methodist Children’s Home

Make a lasting impact in the lives of young people by serving at the Methodist Children’s Home. Volunteers have the opportunity to walk alongside youth through life coaching, lead Bible studies that encourage spiritual growth, and offer academic support as tutors. Whether you have a heart for mentoring, teaching, or simply showing up with love and consistency, there’s a place for you here.

Bibles Needed

We are collecting gently used Bibles for St. Mark’s to pass out to their congregation and others in the area. Please place your donations in the black Missions bins around the church campus.

Samaritan Center

Please help the Samaritan Center collect non-perishable food items. The greatest need currently is mashed potatoes, canned pasta, and spaghetti sauce. They are also in need of hygiene items such as deodorant, shampoo, tooth paste, and toothbrushes. Please place items in black mission bins or take directly to the Samaritan Center, 402 Girod St., Mandeville.

Reading Glasses Needed

We are recycling prescription and reading glasses for the Jail Ministry and St. Mark’s. Glasses must have a plain plastic frame and lens, with no embellishments. Place in black missions bins around church.

Methodist Church of Cuba

St. Timothy partners with the Methodist Church of Cuba through church construction teams and through financial support of its youth and young adult ministries.  We work primarily through our sister church, Catedral Metodista en Holguin, and through the Office of the Bishop in Havana.  The Cuba Sanara ministry that we launched in 2023 ships medicines via courier to Havana twice a month.  The Medical Director in the bishop’s office distributes medicines free of charge to churches throughout the island.  This ministry provides the primary source of treatment to Methodist congregations in a nation with   chronic and acute shortages of meds.   Many Cubans come to church looking for meds but find that they have deeper spiritual needs that only Jesus can fulfill.

Jail Ministry

Our Jail Ministry Program offers weekly Bible studies to the men and women at the St. Tammany Parish Jail in Covington.
