ADULT CHOIRS
The largest ensemble at St. Timothy, the choir provides special music and leadership of congregational singing at the 8:15 & 11:15 a.m. Sunday worship services. The choir also presents performances of major choral/orchestral masterpieces for the community at large. The annual “Christmas on the Northshore” concert was voted as 2004 Best Choral Arts Performance in the New Orleans Arts Awards. Its successful reception led to an annual Gospel concert that is performed on Palm Sunday.
The choir has traveled to New York to perform in Carnegie Hall. In 2007, the choir visited the Holy Land in the “Prepare the Way” tour where members of the group participated in several concerts in Jordan and Israel; the tour culminated with a performance in Manger Square, Bethlehem, on Christmas Eve. In the Spring 2009 “Prepare the Way Goodwill Tour,” the choir traveled to Greece to perform the oratorio “Elijah.”
Participating in the St. Timothy choir is fun and offers many opportunities for developing relationships and for fellowship. There is always a fresh pot of coffee in the choir room. Every rehearsal includes laughter as well as time for sharing concerns and prayer.
